We visited South By Southwest in Austin this week to help out with The Buffalo Lounge, our great state’s showcase of talent in the areas of interactive media, film and music. So many great events happening in one spot – be assured that our state is really getting some glory right now!
We had some spare time to visit the Etsy venue, just a couple doors down from The Buffalo Lounge. It was cool to craft with the people who make so many connections possible. Did you know that JD and Sara met through the Oklahoma Etsy street team? Aww…memories!
There is talk of adding a new category to the state fair’s creative arts entries this year… keep your eyes peeled for another opportunity to stitch on a theme!
This Saturday at IAO, join creative types for social art making, community crafting or just be inspired. Whatever you call it, this “Make It!” Day is a great opportunity to work around other creative types and cure your cabin fever.
The event is free, just RSVP on Facebook and bring your own supplies.
We look forward to seeing you there!

What kind of music do you play?
Fun and Funky Music for Families
How did you start doing this?
Kids liked our “grown up” music so we put out an album just for them and booked an OKC library tour. The shows were successful and the album sold well so we decided to pursue this direction and it has been very successful.
Are you bringing anything new to Deluxe?
We have a brand new album, “Funky Fresh and Sugar Free,” that we released this year.
What inspires you?
My own personal experiences as a kid, my friend’s kids and now my new son
What is your favorite part about performing?
That it feels like a rock show every time we play!
How was your last Deluxe experience?
It was an awesome party!
Anything else you’d like to share?
We look forward to rocking Deluxe again this year, it’s such a fun, family-friendly event we feel like everyone should check it out.
Happy Thanksgiving, Deluxe fans!
As we spend time with our loved ones, let’s take some time to think about some less fortunate people. We know you care about your community, and that’s one reason you love Deluxe.
Please plan to bring some warmth to needy Oklahomans when you visit the show on December 11! We need the following items:
1. Gently used coats
2. Mittens or gloves
3. Hats and scarves
We especially need children’s items and plus-sized
items, as these go rather quickly.
Thank you for being a great community, we’re proud to have the most caring shoppers ever!
Do you love Deluxe? Want to meet new people and be involved with our creative community?
We need quite a few volunteers to help make Deluxe the best it can be. You can assist shoppers, help artists load up and even help kids make free art. You can volunteer with a friend, and we’ll put you on a task together if you want. Does that sound like fun? Please register here on the ProjectOKC website. We truly appreciate all of our volunteers!
There’s something going on over on NW 23rd – we noticed it when Cuppies and Joe was about to open, this time a couple years ago. These adorable bungalows were getting renovated and filling up with cool businesses.
Now, the owners of these businesses have named their district Trendy Third, and tonight is a celebration of the great things that are happening. Head over to Pippin & Pearl and MisteRabbit, and pick up some vintage goods and a little something for yourself – like one of those FriedOkra sock monkeys you’ve had your eye on! There are lots of goods from Deluxe artists inside Pippin & Pearl and Cuppies and Joe.
