Who designed your awesome new Web site?
The dynamic duo at Cooper Multimedia, Erin and Tim Cooper!
Who makes that cute sock monkey on your poster?
Ponca City’s own FriedOkra is the sock monkey genius. She will be at Deluxe and you can also shop online.
How do I get to Deluxe?
We’re at Oklahoma State Fair Park, in the Centennial Building. This is just off of I-44, a couple miles west of I-35.
Will there be a prize for the best display again?
Yes! The vendor who creates the most lovely, interesting and thoughtful display will win a $50 cash prize, a swell rosette and their booth fees for their next Deluxe event will be waived.
Can share a booth with my friend?
Yes, but you and your friend must each submit separate applications online. Mail your checks together. Don’t forget that each applicant must submit a $10 application fee.
I offer artistic services such as caricatures, custom portraits and photography. Should I apply to Deluxe?
Yes! Some of the most memorable Deluxe artists offer such services.
Can I sell supplies or other items which I did not make with my own hands (sewing machine, lathe, et al)?
Probably not. But ask us if you think you’ve got something which will change our minds.
I drove to Mexico and bought a truckload of beautiful handmade items. Can I sell them at Deluxe?
No.
I applied for Deluxe but I haven’t heard from you whether I was accepted.
If you did not mail us your application fee and booth fee checks, your application is not considered complete. We do not evaluate incomplete applications.
Am I responsible for collecting sales tax as a Deluxe Vendor?
Yes. The tax you collect includes both city and state taxes. The rate you will charge (8.375%) is the total of the 2 rates. You will need to submit a form to Deluxe directors noting your sales for the day, and remit payment to the state. Many vendors calculate tax when they price their items in advance so it’s a nice, even number – be sure to post a sign in your booth telling customers that your prices include sales tax if you choose to do this.
Who’s in charge of Deluxe?
JD McCoy and Sara Cowan.
Does Deluxe need sponsorship?
Yes! If you’re a locally-owned business we’d love your help. Please email sara@deluxeok.net.
Does my stuff qualify for participation in Deluxe?
If you made it and it’s interesting and original, apply! Be sure it’s family-friendly. People sometimes bring kids to Deluxe and there is no “Adults Only” section. If your business card says “Independent Sales Representative,” Deluxe is probably not the show for you.
Can I sell food, candy or spice mix at Deluxe?
No. Sorry.
Will you be advertising, promoting and generally pimping out this event?
Yes, yes and yes! Look for ads in the Oklahoma Gazette. We also promote on Twitter, Facebook and print media via press releases and strategic partnerships with local businesses.
I am a Deluxe artist. (Yay!) Can I make promo items to put in the goodie bags?
Yes! We will offer free goodie bags to the first 50 customers. If you can, please donate 50 small items (stickers, samples, coupons, etc.) with your business name affixed on it somewhere, and we’ll add them to the goodie bags! Please be sure to get items to us before Dec. 1, either by mailing them to our PO Box or by delivering them to the pre-show artist meeting in November.
What can I do to help promote Deluxe?
Print some posters and spread the word! There are also graphic ads to use on Facebook, as well as your blog. Please invite all of your Facebook friends to Deluxe using this event page.
Do you have any tables I can rent for my booth?
Yes, the cost is $10 to rent an 8 foot table. You can add this fee onto your booth fee in your application. No day-of-show table additions, as this causes confusion and delay.
Are tables or chairs included in the booth fee?
No. In order to keep booth fees low, we let vendors “itemize” their needs. No use paying for a table or electricity if you don’t need them, right? You will need to bring a chair.
Is this an indoor event?
Yes! The Centennial Building at State Fair Park is lovely and air-conditioned.
Can I demonstrate my craft at my booth?
By all means, yes! Especially if elbow grease is your fuel. If you need electricity, be sure to select a booth with electricity on your application. Electricity use costs us money so you will need to pay extra for this service. Please do not create any chemical fumes, obnoxious noise or smoke.
How many vendors will be there?
We have room for more than 100 – but we will try to limit the number of artists for the 2010 show to limit redundancy and to increase sales for our artists. We plan to have about 80 artists and 20 community groups.
My items are not handmade by me, but they are really cute/cheap/piratey/useful. Should I apply to Deluxe?
No.
When will I know if my work was accepted?
We will send emails to applicants before Oct. 15.
I was not selected as a Deluxe artist. What happens to the booth fee check I sent you?
Your booth fee check will be destroyed.
Why wasn’t my work accepted to Deluxe?
We have many talented applicants, but unfortunately we are not able to accept everyone.
There are many possible reasons which may or may not apply to your work:
- Incomplete application or missing application fee
- Too many vendors of your product type already selling at Deluxe
- Copyright infringement issues with your designs
- Product or style not appropriate for Deluxe aesthetic
All director decisions are final. Thank you for respecting the work we do.
